Background
Tom Bassett is a native of Hastings, Nebraska and a graduate of Hastings High School. He is known as a qualified antique appraiser, entertaining speaker, accomplished athlete and innovative leader.
Tom graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan, earned his Masters degree from the University of Nebraska and his Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE).
He is a former high school teacher and coach. Tom has a great deal of respect for educators and a slight fear of junior high students.
He was Wesleyan's first All American in Track and still runs in Masters' Track Meets throughout the world.

State Quarter
Governor Mike Johanns appointed Tom to the committee that designed the Nebraska quarter. Tom is presently President of Bassett Enterprises in Lincoln, NE of which Bassetts' Appraisals is a part.
After selling his auction business, Tom served as Executive Director of the Nebraska Dental Association and the Nebraska Stroke Foundation. He is past President of The Lincoln Coin Club, Nebraska Numismatic Association, Executive Club of Lincoln and is a longtime member of the New England Appraisers Association.
Tom conducts appraisals for Banks and Law Firms in addition to teaching classes on "Bargain Hunting for Antiques" at Southeast Community College. He is a regular guest on the popular KFOR radio talk show "Problems and Solutions", helping listeners evaluate antiques and collectibles.

Tom’s "Amazing Collectible and Antique Appraisal Event"...
Tom developed the program over a period of years out of his admiration and respect for the popular Antique Road Show on PBS. It has been well received by audiences nationwide. In 1983 Tom conducted what is likely the largest antique appraisal in the history of Nebraska when he appraised the world-renowned Pioneer Village in Minden, Nebraska.
Since 1978, Tom has been entertaining and enlightening audiences nationwide with his brand of fun and philosophy. |
